17 May My Recent Travels to Payson, Arizona
Hello Everyone, Joe Iuculano here and I wanted to go over and tell you about my recent experience I had in Payson, Arizona. Payson is located about 90 minutes Northeast of Phoenix with weather 20, 30, and 40 degrees cooler than where we currently are. In fact, my wife actually had to bring a jacket as she got a little cold from the cool breeze. I want to bring you along an experience, a journey, something to do with the family to try something new.
Alot of people have heard of Payson but not alot of people have been there. So I wanted to bring you along my journey and I took a couple of videos to show you a little bit about Payson, Arizona. Read along a bit more and learn more of what Arizona has to offer.
One of the big draws of Payson is the Mogollon Rim. This geological feature cuts across the state of Arizona extending approximately 200 miles, starting from Northern Yavapai County moving east near the border of New Mexico.
My last stop in Payson was at Willow Springs Lake. This very scenic setting is a heavily forested area on the edge of the Mogollon Rim. The water surface of the lake is 158 acres with an average depth of 60 feet. There is a variety of fish in the lake from Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass to name a few. The lake is stocked weekly with catchable size Rainbow Trout from May through September. There have also been some trophy size catches that have occurred at Willow Springs Lake. Other activities include, boating, camping and hiking. There are 2 campgrounds including the Sinkhole Campground which is closest to the lake and is open year round. The landscape which is simply gorgeous and at an elevation of about 7,500 feet, you can expect very pleasant temperatures with a cool, colorful autumn, and a cold and snowy winter.
So what you guys think, pretty amazing scenery, pretty cool activities that you can do. Hopefully, I have given you a couple ideas for you and your family or for yourself just to get away and explore and learn a little bit more about the great state that we live in.
